Madelyn Holthouse

Madelyn Holthouse

Miami University

 

Madelyn Holthouse is a Sophomore at Miami University. She is majoring in Chemical Engineering and minoring in Paper Engineering, Process Control, and Digital Game Studies. She is currently finishing out her role as Underclassmen Liaison for her Student TAPPI chapter, and is excited to step into her new position as Vice President for the upcoming school year. This summer, Madelyn is looking forward to her internship with Procter & Gamble Co, where she will be a Process Engineering Intern in their tissue plant in Green Bay, Wisconsin.

In addition to this, she is currently President of Theta Tau, her engineering fraternity, and she has absolutely loved being a leader, mentor, and friend to her brothers in the chapter. Finally, she is also a member of Chi Omega, a social sorority, and in her free time you’ll likely find her spending time with friends and family or running around campus. Last winter she completed her first marathon and is always looking to train for something new!

Madeline LaBouf is a Sophomore at Miami University. She is majoring in Chemical engineering and minoring in Paper Engineering and Process Control. In both the 2018-2019 and 2019-2020 academic years, she has been presented with the Tau Beta Pi "Top Ten in the College of Engineering" award.


Outside of classes, Madeline is involved as a member in TAPPI and running club. She is also a research assistant for one of her Paper Science professors. This summer, she will be a Process Control Intern at Domtar's Johnsonburg Mill. Madeline hopes to become a Process Control Engineer in the Paper Industry upon graduation.

Brandon Sanchez is a rising junior at North Carolina State University (NCSU) completing a double major in Pulp Science Engineering and Chemical Engineering. While at NCSU, he consistently achieves Dean’s
List honors maintaining a 4.0 grade point average. Sanchez has immersed himself in activities associated with his chosen field of study, including Paper and Pulp Engineering Mentor, Engineering Design Day, National Collegiate Student Leadership Challenge, Advancement of Minority Engineering Students, and member of the Engineering  ommunity. He actively participates in TAPPI events through the NCSU chapter, currently serving as a member of the Executive Board. As Co-Chair to the Pre-Night Committee, he welcomes industry executives and recruiters to the NCSU campus.

Grace is a first year engineering student at NC State and will graduate in the fall of 2022. She is studying Chemical Engineering and Paper Science and Engineering. This fall she will be on co-op at WestRock in Florence, SC gaining professional experience and applying what she has been learning. Outside of class, Grace is involved in Girls Engineering Change which is an organization that focuses on encouraging younger, local
girls to pursue STEM fields.

Erin Riley is a senior at Western Michigan University where she is studying Paper Engineering with minors in Graphic and Printing Science and Mathematics. Throughout her time at Western, Erin has been a member of the Lee Honors College, co-president of the Graphic Arts Society, and fundraising coordinator and president of the WMU TAPPI student chapter (Ts'ai Lun). Additionally, she was the 2020 Department of Chemical and Paper Engineering Presidential Scholar. Outside of school, Erin enjoys reading and spending time outdoors camping, hiking, and fishing.

Robert W. Hagemeyer Scholarship

 

Jessica Tocco is a junior at Western Michigan University studying Paper and Chemical Engineering. She is from Sterling Heights, Michigan and has an older sister (who recently graduated from WMU!) and a younger brother. She is a member of WMU's TAPPI Ts'ai Lun Student Chaper and will serve on the board as the Special Event Director in Fall 2020. She is also a representative on the Student Sustainability Grant Allocations Committee and plays club and intramural sports. Outside of school,

Jessica is a co-owner of a start-up cosmetics business, Kasia Lip Balms, founded in June 2019. She is thankful for the program that she is in because of the wonderful experiences and people she's encountered, and hopes to inspire her peers and future generations to find passion within the paper industry.

 Kadin Peterman

Kadin Peterman

North Carolina State University
Kadin is a rising senior at North Carolina State University studying Paper Science Engineering. Throughout his time at college, Kadin has made sure to involve himself with as many learning opportunities as he can. As a TAPPI member, he's attended two student submits (Charleston, Atlanta)
and won the engineering bridge competition with his team. He took a coop with Georgia Pacific Big Island to gain experience as a process engineer in their pulp mill. He also studied chemical engineering and
wood adhesives on an exchange semester to Stellenbosch University, South Africa.

 Matthew Klassa

Matthew Klassa

North Carolina State University

 

Matthew Klassa is a rising Junior at North Carolina State University. He is a dual degree student, majoring in Paper Science & Engineering and Chemical Engineering with a minor in Cross-Disciplinary Leadership Studies. He has had one work experience in the industry with Domtar Paper in Plymouth NC and looks forward to his upcoming internship with International Paper in Newport IN. He is also a proud member of the NC State TAPPI student chapter, and serves as the chapter’s Programs Chair, handling company dinners and panels.

Outside of classes, he enjoys running marathons and serving as a youth leader in Scouting at the district level. He is extremely grateful to all of the TAPPI scholarship donors who make programs like this possible.
